Sikkim Goecha la Trek

Sikkim's most popular High Altitude Trek Route

The Goechala Pass Trek in Sikkim is the most popular Trek in Sikkim Himalaya. The Dzongri Trek Route criss crosses through the virgin forest of the Kanchenjunga National Park (recently declared a heritage site by UNESCO). Bereft of any settlement, the Kanchenjunga National Park is rich in Himalayan flora & fauna. The National Park is home to the Snow Leopard, Red Panda, Musk Deer, Blue Sheep & other small mammals & Birds. No human settlement is allowed inside the National Park, only a few nomadic Yak & Sheep herders are allowed in a specific area to graze their cattle.
The Nine Days Goechala Pass Trek Starts from Yuksom a small hamlet in West Sikkim. The Highlights of the Goecha la Trek is the Goechala Pass at 4990m at the foot of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the 3rd.Highest peak in the world. The  Dzongri Ridge Goechala Pass Trek is basically a camping Trek, though a few trekkers huts run by the Tourism Department can be found in Tchoka, Dzongri & Thansing Valley.
